Poll Recap:

It’s been over a year since Equifax announced its data breach, which affected the personal information of over 145 million people.

A recent poll sponsored by a credit card website seems to show that the majority of people have done nothing to protect their personal data since then.

Only 12% of those polled said they “locked” their account, and 8% said they “froze” their credit account.

Once again, Axiom readers outpaced the pack – over 43% told us in our poll they had frozen their credit, which as we reported last week, can be done free of charge.

While our readers proved wiser than the average poll-taker when it comes to protecting credit, the vast majority of people have done nothing to protect their personal financial information. In our poll, over 12 percent didn’t know they could freeze their credit.
