FEATURED: What Does The Strong Dollar Mean?

The terms “strong dollar” and “weak dollar” reflect how the dollar compares to other international currency. If the dollar is worth more than other currencies, it’s considered “strong’; if the dollar is valued less than other currencies, it’s considered “weak.” The comparison is tracked by indexes like the U.S. dollar index, a measure of the dollar versus other world currencies. SEE THE FULL INFOGRAPHIC HERE

Average Length Of Time Americans Keep New Year’s Resolutions

It may not be surprising to discover that the top New Year’s Resolution for 2017 was to lose weight and eat healthier. Make better financial decisions was the third most popular resolution. What may surprise you is how long we keep our New Year’s Resolutions. It turns out people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make their resolutions.

BEST OF OUR RADIO PROGRAMS

Every week, Annex Wealth Management hosts two radio programs that inform and educate listeners. Here are some highlights from those programs.

Understanding Total Return

The Annex Wealth Management team discusses total return vs. price return, and what clients see when they look at their portfolios.

Credit Sensitive Bonds

Credit-sensitive bonds are more sensitive to the underlying financial strength of the company as opposed to the direction and strength of interest rates.

Why A Price-Weighted Index Isn’t Always A Good Indicator

The Dow Jones average is a price-weighted average, meaning that the stock with the highest price has the highest weight. Annex Wealth Management’s Dan Brown explains why, as a Certified Financial Analyst, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is his least favorite stock index.

What Is Direct Indexing?

What Is Direct Indexing?

Direct indexing is an investment approach that allows individuals to directly own the underlying stocks of an index rather than investing through a pooled fund. This structure allows for a higher level of customization, such as excluding specific companies or industries and tailoring the portfolio to personal goals or values. It also supports tax efficient, and gives investors more control over after tax outcomes.
