Our poll-takers were pretty evenly distributed on our Fortnite poll we took last week.
Fortnite is the wildly popular game that can be played on almost any sort of gaming platform, including a mobile device. The game uses the “Battle Royale” format, where 100 gamers are “dropped” into a world and must then take each other out until only one remains standing.
Over 125 million people play Fortnite[1], and the game has made more than $1 billion dollars since it was released in October, including $323 million in the month of May alone, the biggest month ever for a video game.
Fortnite isn’t just a hit for video game players – people love to watch Fortnite being played. A Friday Fortnite tournament outdraws the viewership of the popular TV series “The Walking Dead.”
Since the game’s release, eSports viewership has risen to new levels. 258 million people watched eSports last year, more than the combined audience of every NFL regular-season game.
When asked “Do your children or grandchildren play Fortnite?,” our Axiom readers were virtually deadlocked between “Yes – all the time!” and “No.” But the largest group of responders – about 38% – wondered what Fortnite is.
