Who’s On Your Team?

This week in “Who’s On Your Team?” we hear from Appleton Client Service Manager, Ashley Edinger. Ashley is involved with a group that brings light and encouragement to social media platforms.

The group you work with focuses on encouraging people. When did the group get started, and how has it grown? How long have you been involved and what role do you have?

“When Two or More” originated March 9th, 2021. It was designed to bring light and life to social media news feeds. We see so many negative posts through our social media platforms, this group was originated to bring some positivity into the mix. A place to shed hope, share life experiences, and encourage others to keep pushing through the hardships. That they are not alone through their experiences and that whatever was meant to harm them, God will use for their good.

The group started with about 25 people. I joined the group as an admin/presenter in August of 2021, at which we had approximately 115 members. From August 2021 to now, we have grown to 625 people and adding new people every week.

As an admin and presenter within the group, I post videos two times a week (Tuesday and Friday mornings) and then partake in any/all posts and prayer requests from the members. On Sunday’s we have more of an open forum for people to post a worship song that they find impactful. It’s been amazing to see how many people can connect through praise music.

What sort of resources are provided with these groups?

One of the biggest resources provided within the group is connection. We are designed for connection and are not meant to do life alone. The way the last couple of years have been with COVID and isolation, the ability to connect with others through different online platforms have been a saving grace for most.

It has been an interesting experience being vulnerable with past and present life circumstances, however, learning that so many people not only connect with the

message(s), but the messages have genuinely impacted their life, makes the discomfort of vulnerability well worth it.

I heard years ago that our testimony can serve as a lighthouse to others. It can help them avoid the rocks, and if they have already hit the rocks, it can still provide them light and hope in the darkness.

It’s been said, you cannot have a testimony without a test. No matter whom you speak with, could account for exactly that. Everything that occurs in our lives, whether directly to us or around us, has effects positive or negative. It is a matter of how we live through and learn from them. If our experiences in life can shed light out to others and help them navigate their own course, it would be a disservice to stay quiet.

How can you apply what you do with these groups to your role at Annex?

As a Client Service Manager at Annex, the application from the group to my role would be the ability to relate and connect with not only our clients, but also my fellow coworkers.

Everyone has a story, one that they long to share with others that can either relate or learn from. As a firm, we take pride and honor in relationships. Every prospect, client, and employee matter. Their life experiences can be relatable, a guiding light, and just a genuine way to connect. When it comes to finances and financial planning, it is more than just “a numbers game”, it’s experiences, memories, peaks, and valleys. The more connection and relationship that is built, the better service we can provide and the better work environment we can create.

Regular IRA vs Trust, 60/40 Portfolios, Changing Asset Allocation

Annex Wealth Management’s Sarah Kyle and Randy Winkler, CFP® answer several Ask Annex questions:

“Why is it better for regular IRA to go to three sons when I pass then to trust for tax purposes? Two are high wage earners. If better to sons, it can be distributed to them over 10 years through new IRA in their names.”

– John

“I’ve been seeing lots of articles on how the 60/40 portfolios really don’t work particularly well in this environment or anymore. Click bait or some truth in it? Haven’t seen this kind of inflation since the early 80s, when my first mortgage was 13% and I had no money to invest back then. So, this is new to me in the way I think about investments. Glad I have all of you on my side during this time going forward. Thanks for thoughts on the above.”

– Norm

“I’ve been at 75/25 for the past couple years and have not changed my asset allocation. First, was that a mistake? Second, too late to change? I’m 64, hoping to retire in four years.”

– Dan
