What word comes to your mind when you think of retirement? That was the question posed to nearly 6,000 people of all demographic segments in a recent survey[1].
The top five words surveyors heard were (in order of popularity) “freedom,” “enjoyment,” “stress-free,” “boredom,” and “health decline.”
As usual, our Axiom readers were right in line with the trend, overwhelmingly choosing “freedom” as their top choice, and then mirroring the poll results exactly.
Most interesting is how nearly 84 percent of the national poll’s respondents chose a positive term when referring to retirement. Axiom readers chose a positive term for just over 90 percent of their responses.
