Netflix Originals Create Most Buzz Online
The weapon of choice for many companies battling over the streaming crown is original content. Both Amazon and Netflix are spending big money on creating their own TV shows. Others such as Hulu or most recently Apple are also investing in exclusive content to promote their subscription services.
So if everybody’s in the game, whose winning it? The following infographic, based on data provided by Parrot Analytics, shows that Netflix originals currently create the most buzz online. 9 out of the 10 most popular streaming originals in the United States in the first week of June were Netflix shows with Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” the only non-Netflix show in the Top 10.
Parrot measures total audience demand being expressed for a title. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and consumption of content, weighted by importance; so a stream/download is a higher expression of demand than a ‘like’/comment.
